Chapter Ten
Sanomah grabbed her phone pad and waved her hand over it. She thought about calling Nasusah, and a few seconds later, an image of Nasusah appeared in her mind. Nasusah's face looked more radiant than usual. In fact, she looked genuinely happy. Sanomah couldn't remember the last time Nasusah looked happy.
"I just got back from the hospital," Sanomah explained. She observed Gerreh who had already removed his clothes and looked like he was lost. Yes, he was definitely high on chikeedot. Sanomah immediately walked out of their room and into the area humans might have considered their living room. "I'm trying to rest now. I'm changing rooms because Gerreh is acting strange."
"Strange? In what way?" Nasusah inquired.
"It doesn't matter." Sanomah didn't want to tell her about Gerreh doing drugs because it would make her worried. She sat down on the floor and crossed her legs. "I've just been getting the feeling that he doesn't love me anymore."
"Why do you think that?"
Sanomah sighed. "I don't know. Maybe, it's just me. He just isn't very happy to be around me. Like today, he didn't want to hold my hand."
Nasusah looked surprised and concerned. "Why wouldn't he hold your hand? That doesn't make any sense."
"He said that others will think he is too soft."
"That isn't true. There is something wrong with him." Nasusah was genuinely expressing concern, and this was perplexing to Sanomah. Of course, Sanomah was happy that they weren't talking about religion, and Nasusah wasn't busy insulting her, but it was something even deeper than that. Nasusah wasn't just refraining from her typical homophobic insults, she was genuinely interested in helping Sanomah work through this relationship with Gerreh.
"I just wish he would return to being the romantic Gerreh that I fell in love with," Sanomah continued.
"I'm sure that everything will be fine," Nasusah comforted Sanomah. "Maybe, he's going through something right now."
"I wish I could make the journey to see Tarah and ask her what I should do." Sanomah brushed her hand gently through her long blue hair.
"I heard that she moved farther away."
Sanomah's eyes became wide. Nasusah typically insulted the great Tarah. Something was definitely different about the way Nasusah was talking. "Yes, she moved to the mountains. Too many Moldrekians were coming to her asking for help. She couldn't get any sleep because there was a line of Moldrekians waiting to speak with her day and night. She said that anyone can still come to see her, but only if they are willing to make the journey. I wonder how many will attempt that arduous journey."
"If you ever want to make that journey, I would go with you." Now, Sanomah couldn't help but show just how surprised she was by Nasusah's behavior; her jaw dropped, and Nasusah laughed. "You looked surprised."
Sanomah closed her mouth and smiled. "You're obviously talking different than you usually talk."
Nasusah shifted her weight. "I've done a lot of thinking recently. I realized that I need to have peace in myself regardless of what you choose to do.
